Li Ye 李冶, Yu Xuanji 魚玄機, and Xue Tao 薛濤 were all Tang poets (L5:2-4), but they wrote in different styles on a variety of different topics. Choose two poems (by different poets) to compare and contrast. What is the topic or concern of the poems? How do the voices in the poems sound to you? How do the poems differ in their use of language, imagery, or structure? Which do you prefer and why?
