ALBERTO MGT-410 DISCUSSION

1. The idea of servant leadership may be considered a paradox. Describe this paradox in the context of leadership. How does servant leadership align with the values of Christianity? Consider Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV), "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to you own interests but each of you to the interests of others."

2. Review "Example Leadership Models" located in the topic Resources. As you review the models, consider what you think are the most significant differences between servant leadership models and other leadership models. For this assignment, you will create both an infographic and a 500-750 word analysis.

Begin by creating an infographic of your choice that visually represents your personal understanding of servant leadership.

After creating your infographic, write a 500-750 word analysis in which you discuss the following:

Discuss the most significant differences between servant leadership models and other leadership models. Include specific examples that highlight the differences.

Explain the paradoxical nature of servant leadership. Provide examples that support your rationale.

Provide an explanation of where the paradoxical nature of servant leadership is seen in your graphical representation.

Using the 10 unique characteristics identified in Greenleaf's model, explain how the graphic you created captures your personal understanding of servant leadership.

Use a minimum of two scholarly sources to support your analysis.

Submit both the infographic and the written analysis.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

3. Review the seven different emphases of servant leadership in Chapter 3 of the textbook. Which emphasis was most divergent from your view about servant leadership and which was most convergent? Explain your response. Strengthen your claims with supporting citations.

4. Can servant leadership exist without spiritual and moral dimensions? Explain your response and include citations that support your rationale.

5. Complete the "Rokeach Values Survey," using the attached resource, to classify human values and better understand what is important to you. Submit a copy of the completed survey.

APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

6. Consider the following quote from Robert K. Greenleaf: "The difference manifests itself in the care taken by the servant-first to make sure that other people's highest priority needs are being served. The best test, and difficult to administer, is: Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants? And, what is the effect on the least privileged in society? Will they benefit or at least not be further deprived."

Find an opportunity to demonstrate servant leadership in an organization or community through volunteering or serving others. Your goal is to serve the selected organization or entity for at least a total of 4 hours.

Complete the “Service Project Experience Summary of Intent” worksheet and submit to your instructor for approval.

The Service Project Experience will be used as the basis for the presentation in Topic 5. You will need to take pictures during your service project experience for the presentation. You will also need to submit a "Service Project Consent Letter" signed by a representative of the organization.

APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

PSY-355 DISCUSSIONS YENROSE:

1. You are working in the field of psychology as a research analyst for a pharmaceutical company. A colleague approaches you and shares that they have been tasked with conducting research on a new medication. They ask you advice on what research method for collecting data works best for their type of study.

Describe two research methods for collecting data discussed in Chapter 1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? What risks or challenges does your colleague need to consider if any (e.g., informed consent, age, sample).

2. Emilio is an undergraduate research assistant for the college of humanities and social sciences. He has been asked by his research supervisor to pass out surveys/questionnaires to all undergraduate students taking an introduction to psychology class at the university. After reviewing Chapter 1 of your textbook, what are some factors Emilio and the research supervisor need to consider if they are conducting research with freshman-level students?

3. Research is important in the field of psychology and to child development. Knowing the components for conducting and analyzing research is just as important to help prepare students for their capstone course. For this assignment, students will be conducting scholarly research and incorporating content they have learned from Topics 1-4 to write a 1,200-1,500-word paper. This assignment contains two parts. Please read the assignment instructions carefully to ensure the inclusion of both parts.

To prepare for this assignment, locate three scholarly articles at  library.gcu.edu, using parameters for articles that are peer-reviewed and published within the last 5 years.

(a) One of your articles must include research methods and design concepts from Chapter 1 of the textbook, including but not limited to survey and interview, case study, physiological measures, standardized testing, descriptive, correlational, or experimental research, and cross-sectional or longitudinal approaches. (b) Select a Topic from Topics 1-4 in the textbook. For example, you may choose from biological foundations or genetic components of development, one of the stages of development (prenatal, infant, or birth), developmental milestones in infancy, aspects of development including biological, psychological, and socioemotional, theoretical perspectives, such as psychoanalytic, cognitive, evolutionary, ecological, etc. This list is not comprehensive but can offer students ideas to choose from. The selected topic may not duplicate work that has been completed in the class thus far in previous topics.

Part I: The purpose of this assignment is to combine focused research with elements learned within the class. Your goal is to pick one area of interest from what you have learned so far. Address the following in your paper in third person narrative:

1. Describe the Topic selected (e.g., prenatal stages of development). 2. Which theories and theorists contributed to this Topic? 3. In a minimum of 300 words, summarize each of the three scholarly articles found in the library. Identify the following within the article: What type of research method was used? What type of design was used? Was the research qualitative or quantitative? Identify other research elements if any, such as informed consent, confidentiality, debriefing practices, and deception. 4. Discuss whether the research was ethical and explain another way the study could have been conducted. A detailed discussion with source support is required for critical thought to be demonstrated. *To receive full credit, you have to include an alternative method of conducting the study.

Part II: In a first-person narrative, reflect on what you learned in your research in a minimum of 200 words. 1. Was there anything interesting that you did not know before? OR What new information did you learn throughout the process: readings, class discussions, focused research? 2. Does the incorporation of scholarly research in the early stages of your academic journey, further your understanding of conducting research?

Use three to four scholarly resources to support your explanations. The textbook and other relevant resources should be cited when describing topics from the class.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

4. As a child develops, their gross and fine motor skills change. Discuss the difference between gross and fine motor skills as well as other developmental milestones that occur during the preschool years. What are some activities a child can engage in to enhance both their gross and fine motor skills?

5. Compare the theories presented by Piaget and Vygotsky. What psychological model or perspective (school of thought) is the framework for their work? Using the processes of development from Chapter 1, discuss how these theories support development and the impact they can have on children’s development when milestones are missed or not timely.

6. For this assignment complete the attached document "Developmental Changes and Stages Worksheet."

A minimum of two to three scholarly sources is required (the textbook may count as one of these). When using credible websites, please limit use to .org., .edu., mil, or .gov. Websites may be used as secondary supportive sources only. They may not be used as primary sources of information to support this assignment.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

PSY-352 DISCUSSIONS YENROSE:

1. In what way does chronic illness have an impact on patients, caregivers, and their families?

2. Discuss how lifestyle choices can be associated with cancer. Are there ways to prevent this predisposition? Why or why not?

3. The purpose of this assignment is to empower undergraduate students in the field of health psychology with the knowledge and skills to critically evaluate and reflect upon real-world prevention plans designed to mitigate the incidence of cancer, chronic illness, and disease. By selecting and analyzing specific prevention plans that target lifestyle changes and risk factors within distinct communities, cultures, or subcultures, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between health psychology principles and culturally diverse populations.

After reviewing the Class and Topic Resources, write a 1,000-1,500-word reflective critique paper on a plan to prevent or reduce the incidence of cancer, chronic illness, and/or disease. The plan will focus on lifestyle changes and risk factors, in addition to elements that promote wellness, while decreasing illness and current high rates [prevalence] of cancers, chronic illnesses, and disease. It is important to use current scholarly research when analyzing a plan. The elements selected should be supported by this research.

In this assignment, you will explore and reflect on real prevention plans designed to prevent or reduce the incidence of cancer, chronic illnesses, and diseases. These plans focus on lifestyle changes and risk factors, with an emphasis on promoting wellness and decreasing illness rates within specific communities, cultures, or subcultures. Your task is to choose one of the prescribed prevention plans and write a reflective critique supported by scholarly research. It is important to use current scholarly research when formulating a plan.

Use four or six current scholarly resources to support your discussion. Your textbook and scholarly internet sources are acceptable. Scholarly support is evidenced by in-text citations that match source references.

Part 1: Select a Prevention Plan

Choose one of the following prevention plans categories below. You may choose one of the two provided prevention plans in the chosen category or locate another prevention program in that category.

Healthy Lifestyle Promotion for Reducing Heart Disease: Investigate a prevention plan aimed at reducing heart disease and improving overall health through lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and stress management.
