The third online discussion is about the objectives of a Scenic Designer.  A good design is not only aesthetically interesting to the production, but functional and connected to the director's concept.  Before drawings are submitted and models are built, one of the first steps for a designer is research.  You will put your creative skills of design to work with the following assignment...

• visit the internet and select an image of a theatrical play, musical or event that highlights the set (the production's scenic design)
• post that image and then discuss how the designer met his/her objectives
• in approximately 150-200 words, how did the scenic design set the tone, mood and style for the production - and - how did the set design established locale and/or place
• following your original post, respond to at least two classmates, commenting on their concept/approach
