Children's Literacy

Children’s poetry can stimulate a child’s imagination and have lasting influence on how a child views nature. Some of the earliest literature we learn as children is in the form of poetry.  

In literature, the term canon refers to the most important works in a specific genre. 

List two poems you believe should be included in the canon of children’s literature. Why did you make those choices? 

What was your favorite childhood poem? Is it part of the canon of children’s poetry? What effect did this poem have on your imagination, views on nature or animals, or how you felt?
