14

Active Listening

“Listening for understanding vs listening for responding”

As human beings .this does not come naturally, it is a muscle that needs to be used and strengthened. Just like getting physcially fit PEELing the onion analogy

15

Active Listening Skills

Nonverbals

Rephrase in your own words: What I hear you saying is…

Reflect feelings: It sounds like you feel/felt…..

Ask clarifying/open ended questions (Peeling the onion)

Can you give me an example to help me understand?

How did/does that make you feel when I did/didn’t do that?

What would that look like for you?

What do you need from me in order for that wish to happen?

Again..just me
