Comparing and Contrasting the Use of Ethos, Logos and Pathos in Two Articles

The ethos, pathos, and logos could best be defined as the different ways or rather elements that are used by most of the authors of literary pieces in the persuasion of their audiences. By using these form of persuasion, there are a number of factors that the author is supposed to be considering and they are as follows. When looking at an article from an ethos point of view then the main idea being propagated for is the eligibility of the information as well as credibility. The author tries to impress the reader or rather the audience of his or her work that he could be a great source and thus they should believe in whatever information that he presents them with. The second aspect that is normally looked into is the logos and this refers to a situation where the author is seen to be convincing the audience using logic and facts about the information that he or she propagates for in the articles that they do write. The last aspect that is normally used by most authors in the convincing of the audience to support their stance is the pathos. The pathos aims at gaining the reader’s attention through their pitty. It seeks to address the emotional empathy of the reader and this makes them convinced about the issue at and.

There have been heated debates about the relationship between Donald Trump or rather the American government and the outside world. The two articles that are going to be used in this essay have more focus on the relationship between the United States and the Asian countries. The paper seeks to look at the various ways that the authors have used the concept of ethos, pathos, and logos in expressing themselves a persuading their audience to believe in what they are talking about. While doing so, the paper aims t being able to give the difference in the manner in which the ethos, pathos, and logos have been used differently in the two articles.

The first article that is going to be looked at in this essay is one titled, ‘decoding Trumps' China trade strategy’. It is one an article that has been seen to focus on the endless disagreements that China has had with the United States, also while doing so, the article has also tried to depict some of the efforts that are being put by the president in solving his though he does in a way that shos as if he is not interested in it. Ideally, it is common knowledge that China and the United States have a disagreement and it was likely to hamper on the economic situation of these two countries. It is necessary just as it has been depicted I the article for the American president to ensure this is solved since in as much as the Chinese people will also be affected by these, the American people are also likely to suffer from this.

From the summary that has been presented above, it is true to argue that the author has been successful in his bid to convince and persuade the audience of his works. First, from an ethos point of view, it is true that the beef between these two countries will have a negative implication on to the economies of the two countries. Hus by bringing up the idea of the economy, the author tries to help paint a real picture into the eyes of the audience as to why the American president should ensure that there is peace between the two countries. If the author was to do the persuasion from the logos, then it would also be said to have had been correct and such comes from the fact that the article has also presented a lot of logic in the information that it has presented. First, the author has highlighted that in as much as China is likely to put the United States at ransom for the sake of not rebuilding these tries, they too will have to suffer in the long run and the reason for the above assertion is as follows. The United States president went to China as a way to reconcile with them and ensure the economic ties between them are strong. Had he not gone there, then the impact would have started with the economy of the United States and the measures that they would have applied to save their situation would have impacted on the Chinese government. This implies that both of them were bound to get affected and thus the need for a resolution. Finally, the pathos point of view in this story looks at the mercy that the author shows Trump to be having for his people. He felt them and thus decided to go represent them since a decline in the performance of the economy would result in him being blamed for not working. Therefore it would be true to say that the pathos perspective could also e used to help understand the reason for Trump's decision to visit China and get the ties between China and America restrategized. Indeed, it would be said that based n the above explanation, the persuasion by the author of the first article was a success.

The second article that is going to be looked at in his paper has been titled, ‘targeting chin, Trump threatens student visas. That would hit a bag U.S. export. This article looks at the idea that the American president had to have more strict rules being applied in the immigration department of his country. This would see people that go to America in the name of studies barred from reaching there and even if they still had to go there, the rules that were being set o enable them were being made tougher. The American president had this move being practiced as a way with which o tame Chinese from getting into his country in the name of education. However, for him not to expose the matter so directly he decided to act as if the moe was not only imposed on China. This is so because if he directly imposed the regulations on China, the exportation industry which is impact don by china significantly would have faced a huge blow. The Chinese government would have thought of reconsidering doing business with the United States and these would have seen the revenue the American government gets fro the exports reduce significantly if they indeed chose to quit working with them.

Indeed, the author of the price has tried his levels best to persuade the audience on the need to solve the issues between amerce and China and even the move that Trump seeks to make and how dangerous it is using the concept that is in the subject; ethos, pathos, and logos. Based on the above summary it would be true to argue that from an ethos point of view, the article has shown how the move to tighten the immigration rules especially by those who went to the United States in the name of education was being targeted at China. The American president knew that if the regulations were exclusively mean for China then the effects would have been dire. This is one reason as to why the information that is being provided by the author is true. Looking at the same matter from a pathos point of view, the author has shown that the United States president, Donald Trump had some heartfelt pity for his people and that is why he did not decide to take the risk. He knew his people and the economy of the country was going to suffer greatly if he did something stupid. Finally, the logic of the matter is that the United States knew that if it attacked China directly then it will be impacted on as well at some point and thus chose to go to it indirectly. From the above article, we see that the president imposed rules to bar other countries from getting into the United States easily whereas the main target was China.

Summarily, based on the information provided above, it is true to argue that there are different ways that different authors could use to show or rather persuade the audience using the pathos ethos and logos. This paper has provided a detailed discussion of two articles that have looked into the issue of the conflict between the American government and China and explained how it is one that needs to be sorted out urgently as failure to doing so is likely to lead to negative implications on the economies of the two countries that have been mentioned above. Indeed, the two authors have shown how different the idea or rather concept of ethos, logos, and pathos could be used to represent the persuasion by an author to the audience of the work that he is part of and truly, the difference between how the concept has been used in the two articles is also evident.
