Project Oversight
When it comes to the end of a project and the project management team
evaluates the project the team must look at all the factors that impacted the project
positive and negatively. During the project there needs to be an oversight committee
that monitors the issues that can negatively affect the project. This committee will
monitor the risks, negative issues, budget problems and decisions. When the oversight
committee finds one of these issues it can and will impact the organization and the
project manager.
After the project is completed the oversight committee can review the issues and
record how they effected the project so that the next project plan can incorporate these
issues so the new projects will not be impacted by the same types of issues. The
project oversight helps develop a plan for the execution of a project. If the oversight is
not done efficiently then the project can be put under greater risk.
Then the responsibility of a project is assigned to the manager of the project.
Goodpasture, J (2014) says, Successful projects are relatively easy to identify; we
usually know them when we see them. The oversight that has to be done gives the
planners the issues that they may not see before they start the project and identify the
issues that can affect the budget.
The last area that oversight of a project will do is maintain the records of the
particulars of the project. Maylor, Turner, Murray and Webster (2013) says, it records all
the problem, risks that were faced during the project. These records can help with all
future projects whether the projects are similar in the types of work that is being done or
not. The major area that makes project oversight so crucial is that it makes the planning

teams keep in mind not only the known risks but the unknown or unseen factors that
may have come up with the plan.
In conclusion the project oversight of current projects are just as important for the
current projects as well as the future projects. If the project is not monitored from the
start to the end issues may not be identified soon enough so the budget will not be
impacted as much.
