For homework, I’d like you to consider the topic of education and its purpose, which we discussed in class. What do you feel is the purpose of education? David Foster Wallace spends a lot of time discussing critical thinking and applying it beyond the classroom to everyday experience. Do you agree with his idea of a liberal arts education that allows people to better handle adult life, or do you feel that college is more about gaining skills that will get you a good job?  Why does Wallace spend so much time discussing the annoying aspects of everyday life?  What does this have to do with a liberal arts education?
