Perspectives on Student Support

Although the article by Karp, et al. (2008) in this week’s Resources addresses support services at community colleges, their message is relevant to many higher education institutions, particularly those that serve diverse student populations. Their work causes us to question the nature of “ student support” and its role in student success. The article by Kuh, et al. (2007) further explores the question of student success by highlighting the various ways in which student success can be viewed, using different theoretical perspectives.
