The plot of Il Mostro is simple Loris plays a comedic petty thief and never-do-well type. He is at a particular event when he sees a good-looking lady. Owing to a misunderstanding which is the basis of this movie, Loris makes a pass on the wrong woman.

He gropes her behind closed doors and she is horrified and leaves the party. Sorry to say, Loris has a further ill-fated run-in with this lady. In the parking lot with a chain-saw, the woman thinks he's the serial killer that's on the loose and goes without delay to the police. A series of such misinterpretations leads the police to believe that Loris is a sex maniac and serial killer that frighten the neighborhood. The force organizes an out of the ordinary undertaking to attempt to catch him red-handed thanks to an in secret policewoman, Jessica Rossetti who poses as a seductive and vulnerable women, setting a trap in which to catch Loris.

The police initiate a task force of female officers to attempt to stop this serial killer. The only officer willing to take the job is Jessica who tails him and ends up leasing his residence from him. The land lord is also pleased by this as it seems Loris resourcefully avoids paying his rental fee and repairs fees. Loris also ingeniously avoids paying for provisions and furnishings too. All of these things catch up with him and only put in to the amusement of the film. Jessica then embarks on the operation to seduce Loris, but almost immediately becomes swayed by the illogicality of the suspicions, Loris, in actual fact, is a very shy, that Jessica begins to talk about opting out of the undercover job. At the same time Jessica realizes that she is beginning to fall in love with Loris. Finally, in the wrapping up of the movie we learn that the brutal murderess is a Chinese teacher that Loris had gotten in touch with concerning an interview for work and then failed. Once all the misinterpretations are straightened out, Loris and Jessica comfortably initiate a relationship and they walk off together into the sunset, literally.
