Action Research Project – Part 2

It is virtually inevitable that as the project unfolds, unanticipated issues and opportunities will arise that

will have to be addressed if your project is to be successful. The result will be a project whose scale

and complexity will be anything but boring but still viable within your timeframe. (If you have reduced

the scope and simplified your purpose to the point you are sure you will be bored while doing the

project, you have gone too far.) Pursuing a project of this nature will take you through, at a micro

level, all of the issues and concerns the class will address at a more macro organizational level.

In this Assignment, you will be assessed on the following outcomes:

GM505-1: Explore the roles, functions and responsibilities of internal action researchers.

GM505-2: Analyze group and interpersonal processes involved in doing action research in

professional settings.

PC-6.1: Incorporate data, inferences, and reasoning to solve problems.

Instructions for this Assignment

By now, you have clarity about the people involved in your action research, and you have developed

how you will obtain data. You are now ready to describe, analyze, and evaluate your data gathering,

present feedback, and communicate your post–project assessment of the outcome of your project.

You do not need to resubmit your Unit 3 Assignment 1: Action Research Project – Part 1.

The deliverables for this Project are:

A 6–9 page W ord document (not counting Appendix 1) that includes the following:

1. Use the “Unit 6 Action Research Project- Part 2 Template.”

2. Describe what you obtained data about, how well the data collection process worked or did not

work, how you compiled the data for the purposes of feedback, and the subsequent analysis.

3. Evaluate how you handled the ethical issues of confidentiality during all phases of your Action

Research Project. Justify your approach to maintaining confidentiality during the data gathering

phase. Explain your own access to the data, and assess your own proclivities to interpret the

results for others, rather than involve them in analysis and interpretation (without destroying

your own interest in the project).

4. Assess the design of your feedback process, including how you facilitated interaction related to

analyzing the data and developing joint action plans.

5. Synthesize the specific results of your action research project relative to what the project was

intended to accomplish.

6. Include a retrospective statement about what you now realize could have been handled

differently and identify what you will need to do to become more effective as an internal action

researcher.

7. Include a copy of your Responsibility Chart (not the directions, and not the Unit 4 Focus Paper)

as Appendix 1.

8. The presentation should have a minimum of 3–5 academically credible sources in addition to

the course materials. Your sources should follow proper APA format. Refer to the Academic

Tools tab to gain information related to W riting Support. The Writing Center will provide you

with helpful tips on using the APA style of writing.

9. Review the Rubric below to ensure all points have been captured in the project.

10. Submitting your paper to the Writing Center prior to submitting it for grading is highly

recommended.

Directions for Submitting Your Assignment

Submit your paper in a W ord document. Save it in a location with a name that you will remember, and

including your own name. When you are ready, submit it into the Unit 6: Assignment 1: Action

Research Project – Part 2 Dropbox by midnight ET Tuesday of this unit.
