research paper
IT Network Design for Dependable Distribution Center (DDC).
Goal
IT network designing for both office and ware house of Dependable Distribution Center (DDC).
The design includes
Data.
Telecom.
Software and
Hardware deliverables.
Brief Description
The major requirements of the project were to
Week 1: Provide Data and Voice connection in the office and ware house
Week 2: Analyzing and designing cable connections for the office floor plan including if its Quadra or duo
Week 3: Providing Hardware and Software requirements
Week 4: IP Addressing for Network Hardware and Telecom
Week 5: Providing Network Security including type of Firewall to be used and method of password protection
Week 6: Presentation.
Brief Description
Accomplishments
Now we feel that we can at least
what are the requirements and
what has to be done and
what not to.
Like for example what type of hardware requirement is needed like printer, computers.
Basic knowledge of how cabling is done. More interesting is about various IP address and how they should be assigned
Matching with Initial Plan
During the course of the project we were more or less on track with the initial plan.
There was some initial hiccups as we missed the first class. But we were able to cope up and were able to deliver everything on time.
Though most of the time we were taken back especially when there was IP addressing assignment.
We overlooked and missed the tools that was already provided by professor. So, we learnt a lesson as to how we have to carefully see what are the resources we already have and how effectively we can use them.
Matching with Initial Plan
Things learnt
During the course, we learnt lot about
networking and designing.
Group communication
Value of time
Effective utilization of Resources
For us we thought networking is something which was way above our head and were never able to comprehend what they were talking. Now we feel it’s not that difficult if we know the technical know-how of the hardware and if we get a clear understanding of the requirements.
