In the North the Negro had better educational facilities by Jacob Lawrence. 1940–41. Harlem,New York.

Lawrence was influenced by the work of the Mexican muralists and earlier artists such as Goya, but he drew his stylistic inspiration primarily from the Harlem community in which he lived. Which displayed vivid pattern and colors.

“Note that Lawrence dresses the girls in the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue, thus emphasizing the fundamental nature of primary education.”(Pg. 448-459)
