From the analysis concerning the ability of the native English speaking persons and non-native English speakers to identify the color of words that are color names, it shows that the non-native English speakers have a higher ability to recognize the color names which are written in different colors. The results show that persons of who are native speakers had difficulty in identifying the color names that were written incongruent to the colors. This feedback is evident through the length of time that each person who was identified as a native English speaker took in the identification of the color names. The study shows that despite a native English speaker being of tender age or old this factor did not contribute to the level of time the individuals spent identifying the colors. For instance, the Participant number 3 who is a native English speaker who is 29 years old took 59 seconds in realizing the color name while participant number 2 who is aged thirty-two years took forty-four seconds to realize the color names. Therefore, in this case, the difference in age does not matter concerning the length of time the individuals take to recognize the color names since the difference is variant depending on every individual.
However, in the case of the Spanish speakers the persons who were used in the study were found to be quite a faster in recognizing the color names as compared to the native English speakers. Additionally, the age factor amongst the Spanish speakers was still variant, and the results are not mainly based on the age differences. However, the comparison of the persons in the two groups who are of the same age bracket and the time difference in recognizing the color names is quite significant.
Summary
From the findings, it is evident that the Spanish speakers took lesser time in knowing the color names, unlike the native English speakers who took almost twice the length of the time taken by the Spanish speakers. These findings satisfy the hypothesis that the native English speakers take longer to identify color names dissimilar to the colors as compared to the non-native English speakers.
