Information Security Assessment

a) Keys of 2 different sizes:

You can have a look at the following screen shots that I took during encryption and decryption process in which I created 2 different sized files.

d) Exported key should be in ASCII form that is the “American standard code of information Interchange. Because if our exported key is not in ASCII form and some other person can access it by any means other than the person we want, he won’t be able to get the message as he has not the required key. Following is the screenshot.

b) The key that was bigger in size took slightly more time than smaller key. Depends on size if there is a really huge size key like 10gb difference then it will take long time otherwise it will take time but with the minute time difference.

c) Time required for encryption of 1 gig file:

yes it take much time to encrypt large file it depends on system and its specifications as well like what is the RAM size and size of disk we are using. If we are using normal system with small sized disk and RAM then it will take 7 minutes to encrypt a file of 1 gig and in case of 10gig it should take almost half an hour.

e)

We need cipher in ASCII when we are encrypting and do not want any other guy to read our message if a person somehow access the receivers computer to whom we are sending this encrypted file. In the case we need cipher in ASCII format.

f)

I. Exchange your public key and your friend’s public key using email.

II. Import your friend’s public key into your key ring.

III. Encrypt a file using your friend’s public key and send the encrypted file to your friend.

IV. Ask your friend to decrypt the encrypted file.

Role of cryptography in privacy

Cryptography is used in information security to protect information from unauthorized or accidental disclosure while the information may be electronically or in hard copy and it is in storage. It is playing an important role in privacy by hiding information in order prevent unauthorized access. The literal meaning for cryptography is “hidden writing’’

Cryptography is playing vital role in authentication data integrity, confidentiality, digital signature, privacy. All we are doing to make our documents and chats within person private. It ensures us now a day our privacy is not at risk and cryptography helps the persons to save from intrusions of other persons in their life and that is how it assures us the privacy of any individual.
