List the title and author of the article you chose.

Title: Food environment and Obesity

Author: Danhong Cheng

Describe the purpose of the study.

The primary intent of the study is to determine the association and relationship between obesity concerning food environments.

What is the research question in the study?

The main aim of the research was to test the relationship of food behavior in respect to overweight cases in the US.

What is the hypothesis of the study?

The Hypothesis of the research was to determine if food behavior methods have a direct impact on the rising incidences of obesity. Consecutively, it was testing if the relationship is true or false.

Research Methods: In this section of your analysis, you will take a deep dive into the research methods used by the authors of the study you chose to analyze. It is important that you are able to identify, describe, and discuss the data collection and data analysis methodology used by the researchers.

Important: Once you receive instructor feedback on this table, revise it and include it in you final project submission in Module Seven.

One Example

Identify whether the study design is experimental or observational. Support your identification with examples from the study.

The experimental research is observationally based as it targeted household diet behaviors versus food dessert that causes an increase in obesity that included approximately 40,000 individuals.

The inclusion of approximately 40,000 individuals who conducted the main parts of the research experiment and the sample population.

Identify the methods used to collect the data and explain why the methods are appropriate based on the research question.

The procedural approach applied the use of various questionnaires with primary benefits of providing a cheap, efficient, and faster ways of obtaining large sums amounts of data from a large target sample of people.

Most individuals in the adult sample population had an average total of 28.50 BMI which was consistent with calculated results by Flegal et al. with US adults averaging 28.70.

Identify the data collected as quantitative or categorical. Support your identification with examples from the study.

The data collected were quantitative since all numerical data obtained through counts and measurement integers that included the total number of obese individuals per household.

The research included approximately 39,000 individuals in various households in US Countries.

Discuss the potential weaknesses of the data collection methods used. Support your discussion with examples from the study

Weaknesses associated with the use of questionnaires are that most of the participants are likely to give false information due to social desirability.

Sequentially, a significant number of households located in the metro showed a low probability of individuals being obese and results were substantial with data from 2005 to 2008 NHANES.

Identify the data analysis methods used and explain why the methods are appropriate based on the research question.

The type of data analysis method used was that of hypothesis testing used to test the if true statements remain to be true and the gathered data determines if the statements are true or false.

The data analysis methods are significant as it enables the testing of two statement.

It made it possible to determine that indeed food behavior had a great impact on the rising increase of obesity cases.

Discuss the potential weaknesses of the data analysis methods used. Support your discussion with examples from the study.

The main disadvantage is its inappropriateness of data where the data collected can be for past years and studies.

The full data set contained about 38 650 individuals in the US during the 2014 study

Describe the key demographics of the population sampled and identify the inclusion and exclusion criteria for participants.

The key demography applied in the testing of the sample mean included key demographics mainly consisting of adults who took part in answering the questionnaires to determine the relationship of food to overweight cases.

The study revealed that neighborhood environmental factors including food behaviors and dessert are highly associated with obesity status even after controlling for environmental food factors (AMJ Public Health).
