RE: Week 4 Discussion
Two of the major hardships facing expatriates on their return home after a lengthy assignment are family adjustments and feelings of being undervalued by their company after gaining international experience. Expatriates and their families may have a difficult time adjusting to living and working in another country. Some expatriates feel undervalued and have difficulties utilizing the knowledge and work experience from being assigned internationally. The expatriate and company’s relationship should consist of good communication and mentoring programs. As an expatriate my biggest challenge would probably be my family adjusting. Family has a great influence on how I would perform in my international assignment.
