Paraphrasing, Structure, and Transitions using Revised Feedback-GWII

The presence of more than one instructor in an online course is critical in ensuring the success of the students. Having two instructors when running an online course is important because the student has access to extra support. One of the main benefits of having more than one instructor is the division or responsibilities. One of the instructors can be grading papers as the other one is engaging students in the weekly discussion and making plans for activities of the following week(Wilson & Linder VanBerschot, 2014). I believe that when you have two or more instructors engaging students in the class, students feel more like they are attending a substantial lecture. Having more than one instructor ensures that students get feedback almost immediately on discussions and various activities. Having multiple instructors also ensures that each one of them can concentrate on areas where they specialize and avoid taking all topics and aspects of the class. The extra support in the course, therefore, ensures better service delivery to the students and a quality contribution to academia. Comment by Beth L. Schoborg Klinkhammer: This is an excellent revision! It’s clear that this is your own evaluation and not an extension of the author’s thoughts here. Comment by Beth L. Schoborg Klinkhammer: Effective lead out statement here.

Communication is an essential aspect of any online class. One gets the perception involved in an online course one there is a high frequency of interaction, responsiveness and other forms of nonverbal communication (Wilson & Linder VanBerschot, 2014). One of the most important aspects of an online course is the nonverbal cues as well as the tone. The tone which the class takes will determine the quality of interaction between an instructor and the students. The signals are necessary for different areas. They are essential for group conferencing, simultaneous sessions and recorded feedback. Instructors also benefit when they can have effective communication with their students. Another aspect to consider in this area is teamwork; it ensures that instructors can learn from each other. Working in a team is also important in enhancing the morale of any person in their field. I think instructors can also correct each other regarding substance or method. Communication is an essential part of any online class, and anything that can be done to improve this aspect needs to done after careful consideration. An additional instructor will help improve the communication. Comment by Beth L. Schoborg Klinkhammer: Consider revising this sentence for clarity. Comment by Beth L. Schoborg Klinkhammer: I’m not quite sure what you mean by this because almost everything in an online course is written and therefore verbal. Do you possibly mean that emotional undertones are as important in an online class as what’s explicitly said? Comment by Beth L. Schoborg Klinkhammer: I wonder whether more information from the source would help you explain and react to the author’s point here?

Online classes also need to tailor for the individual students. Despite the planning and pre-work that done, it is ultimately important, to modify the lessons for individual classroom needs. It is also essential to amend the class plans to incorporate discussions and papers that will require monitoring and feedback (Wilson & Linder VanBerschot, 2014). The presence of more than one instructor helps to fix this issue. The instructors can then be able to assign themselves to different tasks for effect modification. Having multiple instructors also makes it easier to give individual attention to students. An instructor can be able to look at a particular student’s progress throughout the course and advise them accordingly. I believe the presence of more than one instructor enables a student to get exposed to various approaches to academia and research. Tailoring of the class to the needs of individual students regarding feedback and discussions is an important part of any online class and bridges the gap of lack of a substantial lecture. Having an additional instructor goes a long way in tailoring the courses to individual needs. Other instructors might force the colleges to employ more staff, but it is a good affair.

Leslie,

These revisions are great! I feel like I have a much more distinct idea now about what each paragraph is arguing—I see you giving your reader more clues along the way as to how each bit of information from the article helps prove the main point statement. I also see you making it clearer what your own reactions to the authors’ ideas are. You’re switching more cleanly from source material to your evaluation of that source material. I’d say you’re well on your way to getting to the final draft stage. You might have one or two opportunities in the second and third paragraphs to incorporate more material from the source so that your reaction to the source material is more grounded in something they’ve actually said. Overall though, this was quite easy to read.

Best,

Beth
