Off to a Great Start!
Last month marked the start of a new school year. I have seen many familiar faces from third grade and a couple new ones as well. We welcome all new students and prior students and wish them all success in the 4th grade!
I am looking forward to this school year and am excited to get to know all of my students. This year will be packed full of fun and exciting lessons for your students and I know they will be up to the challenge. As we progress through the year your student will learn many new concepts as they prepare for 5th grade.
During the first month of school we had a great time meeting students and doing group activities that helped students make new friends and feel comfortable in their new classes. One activity students participated in was classroom Jeopardy, which was a great way for students to get to know each other.

Welcome to Mrs. Gibson’s 4th Grade Classroom!
1. Homework: I am very proud of the quality of work my class has shown in their homework. Nearly every student has completed their weekly homework assignments and I can see a big improvement in handwriting. Students will continue to get two homework assignments every week so please continue giving your student support.
2. School Events. This month should be fun and exciting for our class since we have several fall time activities and projects planned. We are going to an orchard as part of our fall time activities to learn about fall harvest and plant life cycles. Please remember to send back your students permission slip for this trip.
3. Days Off. Every student loves days off of school plus it gives teachers a break as well, however this month has no off days.
4. Special Assignments. Students will be working on their family trees this month so they will need assistance from parents in learning about their family history. Please feel free to send pictures or any other documents you would like your students to use in their assignment.
5. Parent Teacher Conferences. At the end of the month we will be hold parent-teacher conferences to discuss the progress of your student. Please call two weeks in advance to schedule your time for conferences.
