2. Examine the purpose and function of criminal law.
2.1 Compare/contrast the differences between criminal law and other forms of law. 2.2 Examine the efforts made in the U.S. to standardize American criminal law between
jurisdictions. 2.3 Describe the U.S. federal systems of laws (the U.S. Code).
3. Assess legal issues as presented in court cases.
3.1 Discuss stare decisis and the notion that it is an inexorable command.
