Overview

Native Americans and Asian American often have cultural beliefs and practices that are different from European Americans. As such, it is critical for counselors to learn as much as possible about these cultures and to develop degree skills to work effectively with individuals from these cultures. According to the ACA Code of Ethics, multicultural competence is defined as a capacity whereby counselors possess cultural and diversity awareness and knowledge about self and others, and how this awareness and knowledge is applied effectively in practice with clients and client groups.

Assignment 3 will help you to examine strategies for providing services to Native American and Asian American Clients. You should also listen to the video lecture, review supplemental materials, and use the rubrics as guides to help you complete the assignment. This assignment will count toward your final grade, is due by Day 7, and is worth 75 points.
