BUGN280 Group Project

Spring 2017

Group Research Project

Your goal as a group is to plan a party for the class. You have a budget of $50 per person. You must research and find an acceptable restaurant that will hold everyone in class. Be detailed and creative, think outside the box.

Data

You will need to create a database of possible venues for your party, which will be created in Excel and submitted with your paper and PowerPoint. The database must include the following items.

Minimum of 50 possible venues in the NJ/NYC area.

Price Per Person

What is included with dining package

Yelp review ratings

Be creative with your data, try to collect as much as possible. We will discuss in class other items you can add to it.

Report

Now that you have gathered the relevant data for your party, you need to construct the report that will be presenting to the class on your party proposal. The report should be single spaced, sized 12 font, APA formatted, and range from 5 to 10 pages. You must include graphs and charts from your data and proper citations to all sources.

Report

Your report should follow this basic outline.

Introduction

Key factors from your data analysis

Discuss the data set that you built and why you included each item in your data set.

What your party proposal idea is

Where will you have the party?

How much will it cost for the party?

What is included in your party package?

Be as detailed as possible, make sure to have data to back up all of your ideas.

Why you chose that party location

Conclusion

Presentation

Build a PowerPoint presentation for your report. Use the same guideline from your report to outline your presentation. Since this is a formal presentation, your group should be dressed formally and be able to conduct yourselves in an appropriate manner.

Have your presentation memorized as much as possible, do not read from the computer screen or the projector. Use notecards if you have to.

Grading

Your group will be graded on the quality of the report and the quality of your presentation. The group will receive a separate grade for each.

You will also be asked to review your group members on how well the participated and acted as members of the group. This will be done confidentially, but your peer’s reviews will count towards your individual grade.
