View Rubric

Due Date: May 24, 2017 23:59:59       Max Points: 40

Details:

Over the last few courses, you have been developing your dissertation research prospectus from your 10 Key Strategic Points document. At this point, you should have a preliminary draft of your prospectus that integrates an abbreviated version of your literature review into the introduction to the prospectus. Your prospectus should include all components listed in the "Prospectus Review Checklist," and the "Prospectus Template" should be followed explicitly to organize formatting and content. This assignment is another opportunity for you to receive feedback on your progress to date. You will continue to work on your prospectus throughout this course by implementing feedback received on this assignment. Another submission of a more polished prospectus will be due later in this course. Additionally, continue to expand and improve upon your literature review, including the theoretical foundations that have been established for your specific topic, as the entire literature review will be included in your dissertation proposal to be submitted in subsequent courses.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

· Locate your initiated dissertation prospectus document.

· Download the most current version of the Prospectus Template and the Prospectus Review Checklist from http://dc.gcu.edu.

· Instructors will be using a grading rubric to grade the assignments. It is recommended that learners review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment in order to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment.

· Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.

· This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included.

Directions:

Submit the most current draft of your dissertation research prospectus using the Prospectus Template. The draft should include revisions based on the feedback from your previous instructor as well as an abbreviated literature review. The draft should be approximately 7-9 pages in length.

This Introduction section elaborates on Point #1(the Topic) from the 10 Strategic Points. (1 paragraph). 100% Component is addressed clearly and comprehensively. No gaps are present

that leave the reader with questions.

BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM: The background section explains both the history of and the present state of the problem and research focus. This section summarizes the Background of the Problem section from Point #2 (Literature Review) in the 10 Strategic Points. (2-3 paragraphs) 100% Component is addressed clearly and comprehensively. No gaps are present that leave the reader with questions.

THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND/OR CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK: This section identifies the theory(s) or model(s) that provide the foundation for the research. This section should present the theory(s) or models(s) and explain how the problem under investigation relates to the theory or model. The theory(s) or models(s) guide the research questions and justify what is being measured (variables) as well as how those variables are related (quantitative) or the phenomenon being investigated (qualitative). This section uses information from Point #2 (Literature Review) from the 10 Strategic Points. (1 paragraph). 100% Component is addressed clearly and comprehensively. No gaps are present that leave the reader with questions.

REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE THEMES/TOPICS: This section lists the major themes or topics related to the research topic. No gaps are present that leave the reader with questions.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND/OR HYPOTHESES: This section narrows the focus of the study by specifying the research questions to address the problem statement. Based on the research questions, it describes the variables and/or groups and their hypothesized relationship for a quantitative study or the phenomenon under investigation for a qualitative study. Recommended minimum: ? 2 research questions along with related hypotheses and variables for a quantitative study. ? 2 research questions along with the phenomenon description for a qualitative study This section elaborates on Points #5 (Research Questions) & #6 Hypothesis/variables or Phenomena) from the 10 Strategic Points.
