Overview

This week’s assigned involves redoing the Hello Echo board that we did earlier in our class. In the assignment, we are to add a Light Emitting Diode or LED with a power switch and a limiting resistor. We are also to check the operation of the board by milling the circuit board. In case we find out that the board is not working, we are to debug the board through performing various electronic equipment tests. We can use the materials in our labs and also consider developing a simulation of the board. The essence of the entire exercise is to familiarize ourselves with several design tools that are in the lab including the testing and simulation equipment.

PCB Design Tools

EAGLE

Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor or EAGLE is an electronic tool that used to design automated electric systems. The EAGLE tool is accompanied with features like PCB layout, schematic capture, computer aided manufacturing and auto-router. This tool is widely used because of its ease of use. I also found this tool interesting to use because it has several features that are essential in manufacturing and electronic design processes.

To use EAGLE, one to need to install the application first. Since the EAGLE tool is under the Autodesk application and licensing, it is therefore required that one install or opens an Autodesk account before installing the EAGLE software. After installation, it is important to import a Fab library to the newly installed EAGLE.

Fab lab is a collection of a wide range of electronic inventories. All these electronic inventories are added to the EAGLE tool through the Fab library and that is why one should import the library to EAGLE. Alternative, you can customize the footprints of the electronic inventories by creating different parts in the EAGLE software tool.

Microcontroller is a control device which incorporates a microprocessor.for the studying purpouse i am refered the ATtiny44 microcontroller’s data sheet.the data sheet have more discription about microcontroller like the pin configuration with pin description ,overview ,some general information ,AVR architecture,about the memories like that.
