Product and Market Mixing
A product is a good or service offered to customers by a company. Market mixing is a tool consisting of tactical and controllable, interdependent and interconnected variables that a company utilizes to meet the needs of its target market. It is also used for market planning and market execution. It includes 4P’s, namely; Product, Promotion, Price and Place.
Cinnamon and Frosted Flakes are crunchy frosted flakes with sweet taste and cinnamon aroma made from cereals, and is produced by Kellogg Company. The manufacture and production of Cinnamon and Frosted Flakes began about 100 years ago when W. Kellogg through his commitment and passion to nutrition saw the promise in a single grain and the flakes were made leading to the birth of Kellogg Company.
Market Mixing for Cinnamon and Frosted Flakes (Bhasin, 2016);
· Product
Cinnamon and Frosted Flakes are crunchy frosted flakes with sweet taste and cinnamon aroma made from cereals, and is produced by Kellogg Company. It mainly focuses on health of its consumers and on their fitness which has resulted in its being an instant hit for daily breakfast.
· Promotion
The company has a magnificent strategy of marketing so as to ensure the consumer is aware of the Cinnamon and Frosted Flakes it has utilized the media whereby its ads are broadcasted on television especially children’s’ channels. In addition, the company has also issued fun magazines with the flakes for children.
· Price
Through thorough market research, the company is able to determine the actual selling price of the flakes especially through involvement of the consumers. It also focuses on the profits made, the production costs and the advertisement costs. Finally, after the thorough research it is able to determine the flakes’ prices.
· Place
The company being a multi-national organization has manufacturing plants in different countries such as US, UK, Canada, Latin America, Asia and Australia, whereas the selling and marketing of the flakes is done in almost 180 countries.
The marketing of Cinnamon and Frosted Flakes could bring about various ethical issues for example; Production of Genetically Modified Foods could result in chronic health conditions in consumers and also Poor Fair trade whereby the farmers planting and harvesting the cereals aren’t compensated (Ethical Company Organization, 2017).
