Write a short narrative that includes: Part 1 (28 points)— Discuss the rise of signature architecture (or star architecture or architecture as object or consumable project) in relationship to: 1. The rise of Dubai as the "exemplar" 21st century city; and, 2. Edward Dimenberg’s introduction to a discussion of the work of Diller Scofidio.
Part 2 (8 points)— Cite any architect (and one of their specifics proejcts) from the Monday 22 May lecture to add to/amplify this discussion.

Write a short narrative that includes: Part 1 (28 points)— Discuss the relationships between culture, identity, and architecture as a medium for story telling and/or empowerment with a particular focus on who is left behind or left out of conventional architecture decisions. Use Roger Aden’s “Displacing the Inconvenient” and the work of Haas and Hahn in Rio AND Philadelphia in your answer.
