Journal week 4

I have taken many intelligence preferences tests over the years. They are typically

accurate. This particular quiz was spot on (Multiple Intelligence, n. d.). My number one

intelligence is social/interpersonal. I think the description isn’t me completely because I am not

one that likes to talk. I do like to be in conversation, but I like the other person/people to do a lot

of the talking. I am intuitive and I like to build and discuss ideas with others. My second

intelligence is self/intrapersonal. I do spend time by myself contemplating life and its

complicated issues and beauty. I have not always been like this. It has taken me many years to be

comfortable being alone with all my thoughts. My third intelligence is music. I have no talent

musically as far as playing an instrument or being able to sing but music saves my life every day.

I gain so much comfort and motivation from music. I think and move in rhythm. I like to commit

things to memory through using song.

My ideal learning environment would be rich in music and rhymes. I would also have

many people to collaborate with. I would have a lot of group work and interactions to help me

learn. I would also write rhymes and songs to help me remember things. I like the idea of doing a

play or some type of performance to help me learn. I think using meditation is so helpful in the

classroom so I would love to incorporate that into my own learning environment. It helps you

become centered and get back to your basic necessity of breathing.

For me to learn ideally I need a place that is warm, welcoming and bright. I need desks

and seats that are arranged as a circle or in a group. I need to have a low pressure situation. My

instructor needs to be informative, without being a know-it-all. I like teachers that are

approachable and admit when they are wrong or someone could also be correct with an opinion

that differs from the teacher. I think many of my personal learning preferences and intelligences

can be used for students in my class.
