The following statement is used to solve Problem 1 and Problem 2. Consider the function f(x) which graph is given by:

Problem 1: Solve f(x) = 3.

Problem 2: Determine the intervals on which the function is increasing, decreasing, and constant.

Problem 3: Determine algebraically whether the function is even, odd, or neither even nor odd.

𝒇(𝒙) = 𝒙𝟑 − 𝟓𝒙

Problem 4: The point (2, 8) is on the graph of y=f(x). Find the corresponding point on the graph

of 𝒈(𝒙) = 𝟏

𝟐 𝒇(𝒙) − 𝟓.

Problem 5: Find the slope and the y-intercept of the line with equation:

3x – 6y -7 = 0

Problem 6: Solve: |8 − 5𝑥| = |3𝑥| Problem 7: Write the slope-intercept equation of the line with slope m = 0 and passing through

the point (-2, 8).

Problem 8: The total number of supermarkets in New York and Illinois is 5898. There are

1608 more supermarkets in New York than in Illinois. Find the number of supermarkets

in New York and Illinois.

Problem 9: Solve the equation: 𝟕 − |𝟐𝒙| = 𝟏.

Problem 10: Given the graph of the function f(x), find a formula for g(x) as it relates to f(x).
