ENC1102: MultiModal Rationale Planner

This rationale assignment is to accompany the Multimodal Project you are creating. It is meant to provide a guide to the audio/visual decisions you made when remediating the literary work you chose. Plan on a 2-paragraph writing assignment, totaling between 350-400words.

· Remember to edit for paragraph structure (topic sentences, evidence, transitions, grammar and mechanics)

· Use MLA formatting and include a Works Cited page citing the literary work you have chosen and any other media files (music, videos, audio, copyrighted images) you include in your project.

Paragraph 1: The literary work:

Write a paragraph that introduces the story, poem, play, soliloquy, or excerpt you have chosen, and describe the theme that it communicates (a thought about life or the human condition).

Topic Sentence Starter:

In ______title______, author ______ name ________ reflects on ___________theme statement______________ using ______literary elements ____.

· Brief summary of plot and introduction to narrator and central characters.

· Images and/or literary techniques that stand out to you that relate to the theme you are discussing.

Concluding sentence that sums up your “take” on the story.

Paragraph 1: My Remediation:

Write a paragraph that explains how the sounds and visuals you chose relate back to the theme in a meaningful way, and how the academic/professional audience affected the choices you made.

Topic Sentence Starter:

For my multimodal project, I chose to portray this theme of ________(theme statement)_________ for an audience of _____(audience)_____ by incorporating ___(audio/music selection)___ and __(video imagery)__ into a ____(type of presentation)______.

· Brief discussion of your target audience (What do they respond to? What might be challenging about the source text? How did you accommodate them in your remediation?)

· Brief discussion of how specific elements of your project address the theme you have chosen (How do the sounds reflect it? How do the visuals reflect it?).
