CST 110 Introduction to Communication

Final Paper Instructions

Assignment:

Your final paper should focus around the topic, “What is Communication Excellence?” or put another way, what makes up ideal communication? Your paper should reflect your own original thinking as well as documented information gathered from the various Stage Assignments you’ve completed this semester. You may address “Communication Excellence” in general or you may choose to focus your research and writing on a specific communication component (listening, channel, noise, etc.) or a specific context (Social Sciences, Business, Health Field, etc.).

Requirements:

1. Your paper should show evidence of personal reflection and critical thinking about the material covered throughout the course. You should include any knowledge gained from the observation, interview and critique Stage assignments.

2. You need a minimum of five direct quotes from scholarly sources which must be cross-referenced in your final Works Cited source list. Your textbook and your Stage assignments may be used as scholarly sources.

3. Somewhere in your paper you should include your personal definition of Human Communication has you have come to understand it this 8 weeks.

4. Your paper should follow a proper English Composition format with an Introduction and Thesis Statement, distinct main points in the body of your paper, and a strong conclusion including a summary statement followed by your Works Cited list.

5. Your final paper will be reviewed for grammar and organization as well as content for a total grade. The recommended guidelines for assignment format are found in the MLA Handbook.

6. The content of your paper should be no less than 4 full pages and no more than 6 full pages (not counting the final source list) using a 12 point font.

7. Submit your assignment on Blackboard. Go to the Course Content link on the left menu. Then click the Week 7 folder and then the Week 7 Assignments folder. You will find instructions for attaching your Final Paper Assignment there. The due date for this assignment is midnight on Sunday of Week 7.
