RJ16: Conversation Report / Research Report (Major Assignment)

Positions—Begin a second paragraph. In this paragraph, present the various positions you have found in response to your “should” question. Be careful to organize this section carefully. Use a clear topic sentence for each position you present, and provide examples of the sources that illustrate that particular position. Give examples of sources using proper in-text citations and present these examples via a variety of direct quotations, paraphrases, and summaries (at least one of each). Follow each source example you cite with discussion of how the source supports the position it is meant to support. You must include at least one source example for each position, but it is recommended that you include at least two source examples per position. Remember that you will likely draw on multiple sources as you explain each major position. “Frame” your research with sentences that introduce, interpret, and explain your sources.  Recommended Length: Around 200-500 words.

*Sentence strategies like the following can help you clarify and communicate the connections you are seeing among your sources:

A study by X supports the position that dogs should be adopted from a shelter rather than purchased by demonstrating that …….

X and Y think the issue is about dogs, but Z argues that the issue is really about money.

A also claims that the issue of money is really important. Although B understands and to some degree sympathizes with this point of view, he agrees with C that this is ultimately a question of cats.
