Price List

Specific equipment needs will vary based on locale, season, trip duration, and traveler experience. Financial resources will of course play a major role as well, as will the proximity of your adventure site to a community – buying equipment in the field may well be the cheapest option for common items, but some items won’t be available at all. (We strongly recommend that you buy your backpack in advance, for instance, along with any other equipment whose fit is important.)

This list is presented as a starting guide only, to get you thinking about prices; for a detailed list of equipment, along with links to online vendors and suggested product/brand information, see our website.

Pricing Note

Prices are approximate, and will vary widely over the year and from town to town. The best time to purchase summer equipment, for instance, is often midsummer or early fall, as outlets clear out inventory – but the best time to have it is when you need it, so you’ll have to decide for yourself how much future discount you’re willing to forego to enjoy that kiddie pool today.

Prices are given in US dollars, and do not reflect objective reality or anything resembling learned opinion about camping.
