Poem analysis

Ans1. All three poems have shared the different human emotions and feelings about death. The first poem is “an Irish airman foresees his death” in this poem the author is a pilot how is predicting about his eventual death fighting in world war I. the author has shown his concern for his country and due this his death was tragic. He said he does note love the people for which he is fighting and he does not hate his enemies but he is showing that war is not a good thing this will make life worse (Enotes, 2015). The second poem is “the death of the ball turret gunner” this is also an anti-war poem discussing about the effects of second world war in which machine guns were used. The author has explained his own experience about the damages of war. The third poem is “the fly” in this poem the author has examined the experiences and the emotions of families who have lost their love ones in the World War I. in this poem there are two main characters mr. Woofield and Boss, both have lost their sons in the world war I and both are trying to cope with their pain in a different way (Mansfield, 2015).

Ans2. After the careful analysis of all the three poems the author has found that all the authors of poems are condemning war. Because the effects of war are explained in a very tragic way. All the authors have conveyed the message that war is not the solution to any problem it just make the condition worse rather than the better. There are many lives which are affected due to the war and many innocent peoples are destroyed just because of the wars.

Ans3. When it comes to make decision about the patriotisms or anti patriotism of all the poems then the first poem about Irish airman is neutral. But at the same time it can be said that if he is fighting then there is patriotism in the heart of pilot. But the author of this poem has given a political statement by saying this “I don’t love those for whom I am fighting and I does not hate my enemies” (Yeats, 2016). The second poem is also the story of an airman from the World War II this is an anti-war poem but the element of patriotism found because all the army persons love their country. The third poem is also neutral but the man characters of the poem belongs to the army and both have lost their sons. But still they love their country. All the authors of the poems were against the wars and condemning the effects of wars for their enemy countries. But none of the author has shown ate for their country and people of country.
