LITERATURE READINGS
An Interpretation of Literature Readings

Eng 106b
In the past, instructors in any institution, whether public or private, engaged the learners in a diversified learning procedure that saw to it that even the learners were in a position to contribute to whatever course that was being discussed. In the modern world, students can hardly communicate in good English despite being subjected to the subject on a daily basis. In reality, the best method of teaching students is making learning a dynamic process rather than a unilateral route where the teacher talks all through the course duration as the learners take notes without any questions. In this essay, a review on two readings derived from different sources of literature will be discussed ideally. The opinions of the respective authors who are responsible for the readings will be revealed and aligned with the current opinion in the real world regarding the same topic. What is more important, this study aims to enlighten the reader regarding the most fundamental principles of ideal communication especially in the English language. Simply put, this essay will bring to light both sides of the argument in matters concerning the articulation of concrete art and literature skills.
In relation to the article from Fish, the question it poses to the reader is whether higher learning institutions should teach English or let the whole world swim in a society whose language has been compromised by the personal agendas of instructors. At the beginning of his reading, he gives an example of how he was going through the written records of his student when it suddenly dawned to him that most of them, almost all of them had poor sentence structures long before the first paragraph came to an end (Fish, 2009). This raised his concerns to an extent of perusing through the rest of the documents only to confirm his worst fears. These articles were from some of the most academically endowed students creating the impression that whoever that there is in their company, probably speaks or writes the worst English ever. This saddened him to an extent of making the matter known to not only the English Department but the entire institution as well. The reception that greeted him once he made his discovery public was far worse than he could have ever imagined. Instead of being appreciated for desiring to bring out the best in people by brushing their communication skills, he was shunned away and given lots of undesirable names.
In the reading of Anzaldua, for far too long now, the culture of putting an individual in a situation where her voice cannot be heard has been one of the most adamant mentalities that have been prevailing in society. She claims that the history of this culture is traced back to the 15th century. This was a time when women were the leaders of diverse ethnic groups across the whole world. History has it those women were some of the most dictatorial rulers that time has ever witnessed. The tyranny of the European Barbarians is nothing compared to the level of threat that women had to the whole world at that particular moment. The purpose of this part of the essay is to give a review of yet another art and literature reading revolving around Anzaldua. Coexistence in society is achieved by setting an equitable ecosystem where even the group with the minor population has a say in the general contribution in matter pertaining the growth and development of society.
In a whole new perspective, it is without doubt that in the world of Business unlike in Literature, the opinion of every stakeholder counts no matter how minor it may seem. In politics, even the leaders of minority parties are usually given an opportunity to address the house and bring to light the plight they are going through on a daily basis. That being mentioned, it can now be drawn that attempting to block the voice of a literature personality is more or less denying paralegals the chance to be represented by a state lawyer in case they find themselves on the wrong side of the law. In this reading, she gives the case of an individual walking in on his friends deeply engrossed in a heated argument about a topic that had already been under discussion prior to their arrival in the restaurant. She states that her friends were too embedded in the conversation to an extent of not noticing her arrival leave alone her presence (Anzaldua, 1987). In her own words, she thinks that there was no way of being part of the discussion owing to a couple of reasons. First, she was not present during the early stages of the argument creating the impression that she might be unfamiliar with the cause of that particular argument. Secondly, she might follow up the conversations closely but when his time to give an opinion comes, she is afraid she would preempt what her friends had already discussed. She compares the same scenario to the current set of standards where no one is allowed to question the mentality of society. Instead, she advises that it would be less effortless just going with it even if one has a contrary opinion.
