Running head: MY FAIR LADY

Momin Albalushi

The movie that got selected for the analysis and that which will be used for analysis is "My Fair Lady (1964)" which was a musical based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion. Henry Higgins in the movies is very sure of his abilities that can transform a Cockney working-class girl into somebody who can pass for a cultured high society member. The working class girl happens to be Eliza Doolittle who consents to be taken to speech lessons in pursuit to improve the prospects of the job. In many occasions, Eliza and Higgins clash but they at the end form an unlikely bond that is endangered by an aristocratic suitor.

The project that I identified from the move was the project to transform a girl and make her another more useful public figure. This project arises from the desire of Professor Henry Higgins wanting to prove that he can turn a flower girl into a lady, and show to everyone that she is one, a bet from Pickering. This project was achieved because Higgins at the end transforms Eliza Doolittle into a lady who can be admired by other men.

The project manager for the project of turning a flower girl into a respectful model was Professor Henry Higgins because he was the one who had and accepted the obligation to prove that he can indeed take the task to fruition. The project manager in the movie was prompted by Colonel Pickering who dared Higgins to transform an unrefined dirty cockney flower girl. Since a project manager is the one who oversees a project, provides required resources and directs the activities, it is Higgins who plays the role of a project manager in the movie thus he is the project manager for the project (Longman & Mullins, n.d.). Similarly, he is the one who has a clear picture of what must be done to ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved.

The project team members in the movie include Henry Higgins, who in this case is also the project manager but still, forms part of the team members and Harrison who sung throughout the film. Another member of the project team members was Eliza's dustman father, Alfred Doolittle, Mrs. Higgins and Clara Eynsford Hill who acted the role of a stylish advanced lady. Additionally, Mrs. Pearce who was housekeeper to Professor Higgins and Freddy Eynsford-Hill, a pleasant young man who was attracted to Eliza when they first men were other members project team. Although team members may play different roles in a project, they all allude to the overall goal intended from the project. All the project team members for the project of changing a dirty girl into a lady as we saw from the movie played various roles to achieve the target. Although in the end, Higgins never acknowledged the efforts of the other team members and took the credit alone, it was evident that the contribution of each member counted into the success of the project.

The project that was identified from the movie can be classified as a project because a project must have timelines. From the film, Higgins asked Pickering to give him six months to achieve his goal of transforming Eliza Doolittle into a lady. Second, a project must have specific objectives. The purpose of the project as depicted in the movie was to turn Eliza into a cultured member of the society. Thirdly, a project needs to have people thus we saw the project manager and other project team members. Fourthly, a project proper planning and scheduling, Higgins had a schedule of events starting from teaching Eliza how to speak good English (Carstens, Richardson, & Smith, 2016). From these components and other not highlighted like budget, it is evident that the project identified in the movie can be classified as a project.
