Why Choose a Golden Retriever

Well In my opinion the best dog ever. I have owned 3 or should I say they have owned me. All they want it to be loved and to love back. I cannot think of any other reason not to have one as part of the family.

Grooming

Grooming can be a challenge as they are long haired dogs. They do have their heavier shedding season as well. They have been known to have dry skin as well. A good oatmeal shampoo is good for their fur and skin. I recommend to brush them frequently. A lot of hair but a lot of love.

Active breed

Golden Retrievers love to play. They will fetch a ball over and over. They will play tug a war and usually let you win! They love going for walk and rolling in the grass. Most in importantly they love the water and enjoy to swim!

Golden Retriever’s need to bath a regular basis

Because Golden Retrievers has long hair they need to be bathed on regular basis. I suggest a dog shampoo to their breed. An oatmeal base shampoo is great for the fur and their skin that can get dry.

Golden Retriever’s are required to be brushed often

It is highly recommended to brush your Golden regular. This will keep their high shedding to a minimum. There are many types of brushed out there. Slicker brushes help pick up the excess hair works well. A soft brush later to smoother their beautiful fur out and make it radiant.

Golden Retriever Hygiene

There are a couple of other things that help with your Golden staying healthy and looking beautiful. Brushing their teeth often assists. You can get a dog tooth brush and past at any pet store. You can tempt them as the past can be beef or chicken flavor. Lastly, clipping the toe nails. I guess it depends on the Golden, However most Golden Retriever’s are laid back and trust their owners and will let you clip their nails no problem. I find the nail clippers for dogs with the guard work best and very good lighting.
