Topic for research/justification for the topic
The topic that I will be researching on is the stagnant rate at which obesity is reducing in children in the United States. The variable that will be under investigation here is the stagnant decline rate of childhood obesity. It is quantitative, and the statistics to be used will stretch over a period of less than ten years to establish the trend of the condition.
The current percentage of obesity in children is at 17.6% per the CDC (2016). The trend has been like this in as much as there has been intervention measure previously used. By doing this research, I will contribute to the knowledge of this topic and possibly establish a trend that can be used by health professionals and the government to use as an intervention strategy. Children are a vital part of the society, and for that reason, I would gladly conduct this research so that I can help improve their health and make the society healthier for all.
Study populations
The study will focus on children aged between six and eleven years in the US. The study will be broken down into two parts; the first is the consultation by health professionals and the second is the children. Essential elements of the study include the use of information/data from the CDC and the ministry of health annual disease chart. These two are sites that have adequate and updated information when it comes to matters to do with health. The method of data collection method entails the use of questionnaires that will focus on the health professionals to establish the cause of the conditions and the rate at which it is in currently. Secondly, data will be collected from the two sites above as well as other supporting documents as secondary sources. The data analysis will be conducted electronically with information distributed on a spreadsheet for analysis. After the analysis is complete, the findings will be represented in pie charts and bar graphs with clarification beneath each.
Expectations from the study
I intend to do a comprehensive research based on this topic, and I hope to establish several issues while at it. The first is to identify the trend of rate of obesity in children in the United States. In the study, I would also like to establish the risk factors that are associated with childhood obesity. Third, I would also like to establish what the popular causes of childhood obesity are. Fourth, I would like to determine what intervention measures have been implemented before and why they have not worked so far. With extensive study, I should be able to answer the questions above and in turn offer valuable knowledge to other researchers and potential solutions to the problem of childhood obesity.
