· My journal entry for this week is inspired by my reading about workplace deviance. Workplace deviance is unethical behavior that violates organizational norms from right and wrong.
· I would like to think that because of my past business and professional life experience I am knowledgeable about workplace deviance. I found the reading to be a strong reminder that I need to be conscience of workplace deviance. I want to share how this is impacting my professional life this week. I have been away in Europe for the last 12 days only arriving back in America 2 days ago. I traveled with a Club Sports team and was tasked with being their advisor, not there chaperone or babysitter. This group of students were some that I had not worked with before and had only met on one pervious occasion. I was both excited and nervous to travel and get to know them. We bonded immediately and I enjoyed supporting them as they trained, volunteered, explored and bonded. On one of our late night chats or debriefs as I call this time it was brought to my attention that one young lady was being harassed by a professional trainer back at my intuition. I was alarmed and shocked and immediately reached out to my director in the states and filed a compliant. Personal Aggression is not something I had experienced while I have been employed at Cat University. I am grateful for my career and to the department chairs that have trust in my co-workers and myself. We have open communication and strive to live by our mission.
