Assignment 3 is an essay question which contributes 15 marks to the Course work grade. Students will be required to submit this Assignment by 3:00 pm (ECT) on 20th March, 2017. This essay should be no more than 800 words in length.
Question: “Meier has put forward the notion that “rapid population growth is a consequence as well as a cause of poverty” (Taken from Meier, G.M. 1989 “In Leading Issues in Economic Development” New York; Oxford University Press Chp IX, page 435).
Using appropriate empirical evidence, discuss the relevance of this statement to the incidence of poverty in a Caribbean territory of your choice.
