· Assignment 1 6.2: Procrastination Action Plan
Do you have a major paper or project that you are putting off? It's time to get back on track! This assignment is to create an action plan to help you overcome procrastination.
Step 1: Review the learning materials in the module, paying particular attention to the reasons that people procrastinate. Do you recognize a pattern in your own behavior? Dig deep: don't just blame "laziness" for your procrastination behavior.
Step 2: Think of 4 tasks that you have been putting off. Include school-related assignments, household chores, personal goals or other activities. List each task.
Step 3: For each of the 4 tasks, identify the REASON that you are procrastinating. Avoid the easy excuses that we all fall back on (such as, “I’m too busy”) and try to uncover the real reason that you are procrastinating. Use the information in this module as a guide. Think about this: We are rarely “too busy” to do fun activities that we enjoy. What is it about this particular task that is preventing you from finishing it?
Step 4: For each task, list at least two steps that you can take THIS WEEK toward completion of the task. Be specific and outline a plan of action. Avoid general statements and instead break down the larger tasks into small, manageable steps. For example, instead of listing “finish research paper”, list “go to the library to conduct research” and “visit my professor to discuss guidelines for the paper.” These small steps can help you build momentum to follow through on a difficult task.
Step 5: Submit the Action Plan for all 4 tasks in this format:
1. Task #1

2. Task #2 (Etc.)
