Multivariate Regression Analysis Technique

I will be using a multivariate method of regression analysis that approximates a distinct regression model with more than one result variable. A multivariate regression model is used where there is more than one variable. It is used when we want to forecast the worth of a variable on the value of two or more additional variables. The variable to be predicted is the dependent variable while the variable used for prediction is the independent variable (Frost, 2013).

Rationale for My Choice

I chose this technique because I can use the independent variable to predict the outcomes of my finding. For instance, I can use multiple regressions to find out whether student’s performance in a class can be foreseen based on revision time, lecture attendance, test anxiety, and gender. Consecutively, I could use multiple regression to determine whether daily cigarette smoking can be projected based on smoking length, income, the age when one started smoking, or smoker type. With multiple regressions, it is possible to determine the overall fit of the model, and the corresponding input of each of the variables to the total variance clarified. For instance, one can tell how much of the difference in exam performance can be illustrated by revision time, gender, test anxiety, lecture attendance and gender (Laerd Statistics, 2013).

Considerations about the Technique

When analyzing data using multiple regressions, part of the procedure entails testing to ensure that the data to be analyzed can be analyzed using multiple regressions. This is necessary because it is only appropriate to use this technique if the data meets the eight assumptions that are essential for multiple regression to provide a valid result (Chopra, 2014).
