The sole mission of the rating board is to assign the rating for every single film that the board believes reflects the most of the parents would give to every movie. The board considers aspects such as the language, violence, sex, and the drug use and other themes and the situations that the understanding would be of substance to the most of the parents and the guardians. The ratings are there to inform the parents concerning the content of the films such that they can determine the movies that are informative and appropriate for the children to view at a certain age. The motion has ensured and will provide the diversity of the stakeholders including the director, television alliance and other organizations in the industry (Barry 2014).. The rating system would not have any outstanding success without the management and support of the various committed stakeholder. The success of the filmmaking entirely depends on the rating systems put in place in the concerned countries. The controversy between the censorship and the freedom of expression has been in existence since the very first encounter between the government and the pioneer artists.
The film industry initiated the exploitation of its strength over the attractive entertainment opportunities offered by the television streaming. The idea is of significance to the philosophers because the artists over the decades presented the most controversial ideas that the government officials or the church leaders find tough to handle. Some of the most valued ideas support the practice of free speech including democracy, personal autonomy, and the truths (Afra 2016). Other as well incline towards the censorship like in the case of protecting the children, protecting an individual from an offensive material and protecting the society as a whole. One of the advantages were outlined by the decline of the censorship standards that would enable the films to capture the subject matter that could be obvious in the TV channels. The film receives different perception at that time, and it introduced splendid box office outcomes. And currently, it is regarded as one of the best works of the Hitchcock. It would help pave the future releases that focus on the taking the attention of the audience by offering the entertainment that is not available on the TV set (Garon 2013).
The censorship protects the children from the ideas that may damage the moral development. The parents not only shaping not only the education, hobbies and their careers of their offspring but more substantially, the social, political and the religious perceptions. The most severe and intuitive expression of others may justify being censored. Of the many plays that are written for the Greek theater, approximately forty-six survived the industry as a result of the censorship. The quality and the content of the artist or the film is bound to suffer. For instance, Hollywood tried the other methods of raising money during the financial difficulties in the company. Although the strategies offered then a better opportunity of staying in business but a new revolution could still affect them with the initiation of the new home video in the year 1970s. It gave the viewers the opportunity of watching the films at home freely instead of waiting for the Television programs (Blaikie, et al. 2014).
