Introduction
- California Health Care foundation (CHCF) is a center that aims at offering the best health care for the people of California at an affordable price to everyone.
- It got investors and other stake holder who believe in innovations.
- Been a health care facility it is also affected by labor laws like any other health care facilities.
- This regulations and legislations includes wage and hours, work safety and health, worker compensation, employee benefits and security, union and their members, employee protection, family and medical leave act.
- In this presentation the concentration will be on the wage and hours act.
The main agenda of this presentation is to give a brief description of the laws and regulations affecting the California Health care foundation. These laws include wage and hours, work safety and health, worker compensation, employee benefits and security, union and their members, employee protection, family and medical leave act.

Wage and hours
- This is described in the fair labor standards acts (FLSA) which prescribes the payment of wages and overtime payments.
- It stipulate that any employer should pay the employee a wage according to the stipulated federal wage standards.
- The employer should also pay the employees an overtime one and one half the normal pay.
- It also limits the number a certain individual or in a certain age bracket can work,.
- For instance, some of the work can not be given to people under the age of 18 years.
- This law also enforces the immigrant and nationality act that allow people with special visa to be employed.
This wage law is described by the fair labor standards acts that prescribes the wage payment and overtime (Finkel, 2003).

Implementation
- At California Health Care Foundation the wage and hours law is implemented.
- This does not however mean that the organization has done a 100% implementation.
- There are still some glitch here and there especially when it comes to the fair pay part.
- The firm has seen that all the workers receive their wages at a fair time and give the best pay it can.
The wages and hour law is quite a hand to fully implement as no one time will there be no complains about unfair pay no matter how high the pay is. Therefore, though the organization has strived to fulfill it duties towards employee satisfaction it still has some challenges while implementing the wage and hour act.

Challenges
- It is a challenge for the firm to come up with a plan where it ensure that it includes immigrant in it employment list in order to fulfill the immigration and nationality act.
- Another challenge is the persistent complains from the union leaders for a better pay been though the organization pay reaches the set standards by then federal laws.
- It is also quit a challenge to implement the wage and hour pay with the high number of individuals who turn out sick but can not cover their medical bills.
- With physician becoming employee it is also a challenge to the hospital as they will also get the incitement from the union members causing a high pay than they already are getting.
The CHCF faces a number of challenges that includes complaint from union, lack of strategy to incorporate foreign workers and most physician becoming employees.

The hospital has benefited handsomely by implementing the wage and hours rule. This benefits include improved workers morale, reduction of queues in the hospital, better employee performance and most important it gains more grants and donations.

Recommendation
- The recommendation to the foundation is that it should seek more investors to be able to fulfill the wage and hours law.
- The firm should also come up with a policy and a strategy that incorporates foreign workers to a fair level.
The recommendation to the firm is to seek more investment and come with better recruitment policies.

Statistics
- On average a physician receive $120000 annually and has a house, transport, sitting, risk, and operation allowance.
- The organization nurses are compensated at a rate of $70000 annually with a house allowance.
- There also other workers such as management and casuals whose salary range fro $300000 and $30000 annually (Dorris, 2009). .
This statistics shows that the best paid workers are managers followed by the physician and the lest paid are the casual laborer

- To conclude the California health care foundation is a an organization that has tried to give the best services while still trying to maintain a wage and hours law.
- However, there are challenges in fulfilling the law at this level due to the continuous complains from the union.
- The organization benefit in several way from the law of wages and hours.
