A weak relationship exist between these two variables, indicating that the Quadriceps strength and shuttle. r=0.149, p=0.424, results not significant.

The result is less than that of the significant indicating a strong direct relationship between the two variables, indicating that the hamstring strength and triple hop run test either increase or decrease together.

Both the Hop index and Triple hop index have a r=0.00 which indicates no relationship.

The first value belonging to the shuttle run test and the second value belongs to the side step test. The first is indicated at a possible stronger results since it’s p value is larger which indicates a stronger relationship.
8. The researchers stated that the study showed a positive, significant correlation between Quadriceps strength indicts that pre and postoperative functional stability. Considering the data presented in table 5, do you agree with their statement? Provide rationale.
I could not agree nor disagree based on the table provided. Lots of p values are at 0.00 indicating that there is no relationship. More information would have to be gathered to show a positive relationship.
9. The researchers stated that no significant relationship could be described between Hamstring strength indicates 60s and functional stability. Give the data in table 5, explain why not.
Very little change demonstrated by the p values and most α=0.01.
10. Consider the relationship reported for the Quadriceps strength index 120s and the Hop index (r=0.744**, p=0.000) What do these r and p values indicate related to statistical significance and clinical importance?
P value indicated no relationship between the two so it is not a strong result. Also the r is greater than the α=0.01 so it is not a significant result.

1. What is the r value listed for the relationship between variables 4 and 9?
R=0.32, p<0.01 It is an effective positive size. Percentage of variance =(0.32)sq x100=10.24. This is considered a good relationship with good variance.
2. Describe the correlation r=0.32** using words. Is this a statistically significant correlation? Provide a rationale. The relationship is a significant one with is high number of predictability.
3. Calculate the percentage of variance explained for r=0.53. Is the correlation clinically important? Provide rationale.
(0.53)sqx100=28.09% This is clinically important cause it is significantly greater than 9%.
4. According to table 2, r=0.15 is listed as the correlation between which two items? Describe the relationship. What is the effect size for this relationship, and what size sample would be needed to detect this relationship in future studies?
This value is indicated for variables 3 and 7. No a lot of information and no p score is provided to determine the relationship between the two.
5. Calculate the percentage of variance explained for r=0.15. Describe the importance of this relationship.
(0.15)sqx100=2.25%, which is less than 9% so it is not an important relationship.

Variables 6 and 7 have a r=-0.02 which is considered the weakest because it is the furthest from -1 or 1 and closest to 0.0.

r=-0.20, p<0.05, (-.20)sqx100=4% These indicates a negative relationship with a larger p value to this is not a significant result with a low variance.
8. Is the correlation between variables 9 and 4 significant? Is this correlation relevant to practice? Provide rationale.
r=-0.32 with a p<0.01. (-.32)sqx100=10.24%. The correlation is important with a percentage of variance greater than 9%.
9. Consider two values, r=0.08 and r=-0.58. Describe them in relationship to each other. Describe the clinical importance of both r values.
Analyzing both r scores, I could say that they do not have any relationship to each other since they both belong to different variable groups based on Table 2. The r of 0.58 may be a significant result since it is closer to -1 than the r of 0.08. Looking at the variance, (0.58)sqx100=33.64% (0.08)sqx100=.64%, 0.58 is significant while 0.08 is not.
10. Examine the Pearson r value for LOT-R total, which measured optimism with the task and emotion coping styles. What do these results indicate? How might you use this information in your practice?
Looking at this score as a r=-0.58 p<0.01 and a variance of 33.64%. I could conclude there is a strong correlation in the two even if negative. It indicates that emotional coping is down. I could use this in my practice when taking into consideration patient’s coping skills and that even when they attempt to be positive they can still be difficult to cope with and can come out negative.
