PROJECT STEPS
You are helping to publicize a spoken word festival by creating a flyer for the sponsoring organization. To fit all of the text and pictures on one page, change the top margin of the document to 0.75" and the bottom margin to 0.5".
Apply the Fill – Gold, Accent 3, Sharp Bevel text effect to the heading “Louisville Word Fest” to make the title of the flyer stand out.
Format the paragraph beginning “The Louisville Word Fest is…” as follows:
a. Remove the space after the paragraph.
b. Change the line spacing to 1.0.
In the same paragraph, delete the sentence “This year’s Word Fest runs from Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14.” because it repeats information provided later in the flyer.
Apply the Center Shadow Rectangle picture style to the photo of the Louisville skyline to integrate it into the flyer.
Format the paragraph “Friday, April 12 12:00 pm–9:00 pm” as follows:
c. Change the alignment to Align Left.
d. Change the font to Century Schoolbook (Headings).
e. Change the font size to 12 pt.
f. Apply the Purple, Accent 5 font color (9th column, 1st row of the Theme Colors palette).
Use the Format Painter to apply the same formatting to the paragraphs “Saturday, April 13 10:00 am–7:00 pm” and “Sunday, April 14 10:00 am–7:00 pm” to maintain consistency in the document.
Move the insertion point to the end of the “To sign up for the open mics, contact” paragraph, type [email protected], and then press the Spacebar to convert the text into a hyperlink that lets readers sign up easily.
On page 2, change the height of the microphone picture to 0.75" so that the picture and the remaining paragraphs fit on one page.
Bold the paragraph “Louisville Word Fest” below the microphone picture.
Format the text in the last paragraph in the document as follows so that it matches the formatting of the organization’s logo:
g. Remove the hyperlink from the text “wordfest.cengage.com”.
h. Italicize the text “wordfest.cengage.com”.
Apply Purple, Accent 5, Lighter 60% paragraph shading (9th column, 3rd row of the Theme Colors palette) to the paragraphs containing the microphone picture, the name of the festival, and the address line below it.
Check the Spelling & Grammar in the document to identify and correct any spelling errors. (Hint: You should find and correct at least one spelling error.)
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
