NATURALIST IDEOLOGY

Nature has been represented in the poem when a man struggles to survive in the frozen wilderness by actually trying to remain dry and to stay warm and as a matter of fact, this one forms the main narrative of the poem. The man had to be very keen on ensuring they don't make a mistake when there is an extreme temperature. The man had to build a fire because his predicament was worsening. His efforts of ensure that he has lit fire was actually a way in which he was battling for his survival. The man's hands and the fire were symbolic of life and death. On the other hand, fire simply represents a comfort and also safety. The fire in the narrative has actually played an important role in ensuring that nature and the man can relate well. This is possible in ensuring that significance caused by this nature doesn't cause a great effect on the man's life.

In the story, the instinct has actually enabled the man to fall asleep and make him be very close to temptations. On the other hand, knowledge gave him an appreciation of various risks that he was to face on the way. In regard to that, instinct can make an individual to make the wrong wishes for instance; the dead wishes and any other wish that can make an individual regret on his undertaking.

According to (Crane 49) Wisdom refers to the ability to make the right judgment and apply the knowledge correctly. In the poem of "The open boat" various characters have been given different description depending on their natural characters and knowledge that they have. For instance; the captain in this poem is the perfect leader who never skips any responsibility he undertakes to those who have actually entrusted their safety to him.

Whenever the captain loses the ship, he always suffers most because he also ensures the safety of other staff. When his ship gets lost, he feels that he has lost a very crucial thing that gives him his great authority. His dedication to ensuring that he guides his men to safety enables him to hold a degree of dignity with the unspeakable loss he feels, as a result, failing in his position. In this sense, the captain is the magic and tragic figure as he always fights for his colleagues.

The Oiler or rather Billie, on the other hand, represents a figure of the everyman of the four characters on the boat. In this regard has been resembled by Crane as a person who is different from the other four characters. Oiler has been acting as a lynchpin of the whole crew by holding them through his steadfast heroism. He always has the fewest misconceptions concerning how others think about nonexistence ways of rescuing when nature's cruelty befalls them on the way. Instead, he maintains an image of integrity, warmth, and strength. He rather responds to the captain's orders by reinforcing the whole structure of the crew and imparting confidence to others who might have lost it as a result of changes in the wavelengths.

The correspondent' reacts to the prevailing challenges of the sea by ensuring that they have that sense of surviving the ship. Although he understands that nature and its fate do not work and think like men do, they nevertheless goad at them because they believe that nature has a purpose which makes them fight for their survival. At any given point, they take pleasure of the pain caused by stormy sea and they believe that the pain caused is the fruits of their hard work which nature has forced them to do as this one matters.

One similarity according to (Crane, et al. 37) that has been highlighted in the two scenarios is that nature was antagonistic. In “The open boat”, the four men who were in the shipwreck were stuck at the ten feet dinghy in the ocean. They were not able to do anything about the existing situation as the fate decided to destroy their ship which made them use the small boat riding on the rough waves of the ocean. In the "To build a fire" it shows an individual who is stuck on a Yukon caused by a diverse snow condition which has made him not to change his direction but rather persevere rough time that is befalling him. Another similarity takes place in extreme weather conditions. The last similarity is that both the stories show that one of their characters died as a result of the harsh conditions. The two materials have been presented differently in that the weakest character died in the "To build a fire" and the strongest character was killed by nature in the story "The open boat".

The dead of the Oiler was not expected by anybody in the story of "The open boat" while the dead of the man in the"to build a fire" was expected since the person was weak and inexperienced. In"The open boat' there was conflict among the men to working together to survive in the boat and surrounding weather while in the"To build a fire", the conflict is between the man for is a lack of instinct and nature itself.

These stories show that nature will act how it wants no matter what happens, the person it decides to take, weather an individual is strong or weak. The luck of the person will be determined on how nature you conflict with nature.

In a “Streetcar Named Desire," naturalism has been depicted in the play in many ways for instance when Stella and Stanley had sex, it resulted in being a powerful binder. Also when Stella is hit by Stanley, she just goes on to forgive him and when she ultimately betrayed her sister. Naturalism is also depicted in the description of a stellar house which was at a dirty walk up homes, barking dogs, jazz music being at a distant and screaming. As per what (Adler 78) denotes, the Stanley's description as being a dirty and oily man who was resembling a gorilla, screaming about, hitting his wife and also being overly offensive towards Blanche.

But perhaps the Stanley scene was the most naturalist when she openly disclosed about Blanche when she was drunk and weak and how he ended up raping her. This is so because it brings the human nature at its profound limit towards evils and pain to others.

Stella and Blanche have different perception about Stanley in that is telling her sister that he is not the right person for his life despite being hit by Stanley severally.Blanche frequently attempts to convince her sister on how she can assist her sister to get out of her situation but her sister insisted that she can't move out of any given situation.Blanche considers Stanley as a brutal person who can take out the life of a person easily. It is also seen that Blanche is only interested in the finances of Stanley more than even her sister Stella.

According to (Bottoms, et al. 56) the stars are the indication of the light through the darkness. The light has been used to show Stella should wake and face the real. The darkness is symbolic of a brainwashed people.Blanche sees her sister as a person who doesn't realize the situation she is facing at the moment.

The past plays a very important role since it majorly touches on what happens previously. It always sets the mood for the play concerning what happened whether it was good or bad.The symbolism portrayed by the fog is a clear description of the struggle of the minds of deeply conflicted families.

As per (Williams 24), the role of the past has also been represented in the "A streetcar Named Desire" when Blanche is trying to convince her sister about Stanley is brutally treating her sister. It has been seen when Stanley is narrating to Stella about how he ended up raping her sister. The significant role played by the alcohol and drug abuse. The effects of alcohol in the society that has been highlighted in the story to show that most of the families are suffering a great deal when one of the individual has been affected or addicted to the drugs. The addiction has been seen when Mary cannot be able to move on with life without the use of this drugs.

Edmund is one of the characters who was seen by her as one of those who was not brought up in the right manner and their parents see him as one who is totally different from his brother. His mother considers Edmund as a man who might not live a better life than his brother James.

There is a great similarity between Mary and Blanche is that they both were mention of scenario in which they drunk to an extent that they cannot be able to understand what is going on at that moment.

Naturalism is a clear indication of how people relate to any given events.it is shown when the natural factors and the social condition affect the natural characters of a person. For instance; in the case for Edmund.
