Forum 1: Introductions and Autobiography Matrix - Your Own Sexuality Education

First, share a little about yourself like, where you live, how you came to be at APUS, your family, pets, hobbies...

Next, as the textbook described, human sexuality involves the interrelationship of a person’s biological, psychological, and sociocultural characteristics (e.g. the three dimensions of human sexuality). Evaluate each of the dimensions according to their significance in your life. Based on the experiences you noted in your Autobiography Matrix in the lesson, what was the course of most of your information about sexuality as you grew up? How did your experiences with parents, teachers, and peers influence your views of sexuality today?

Topic: Introductions and the Classic American Family

Part I: Introductions

It is very important that you participate in the Introduction Forum. Please introduce yourself to the class. Share where you work or plan to work after completing your program, your family, and any hobbies or special interests. Also tell why you are taking this course and what you hope to gain from obtaining your degree. In addition, please take a look at the course objectives in the syllabus and discuss the relevance to your career goals.

Part II: The Classic American Family

Freedom from Want, created by American artist Norman Rockwell in 1943, has been hailed as an example of the classic American Family.  It has also been criticized as presenting a romanticized, unrealistic portrait of family life.  How good a job does this painting do of representing what YOUR ancestral family was doing in 1943?  How much is your family in the early 21st century like the family in the painting?
