“Shitty First Drafts” is an article was written by Anne Lamott who was born in San Francisco in 1954. She graduated from Goucher College in Baltimore. She had written dozen of novels like All New People (2000) and Crooked Little Heart (1997). Lamott wrote and explain how and why first draft in very important for good writers or who is willing to be a writer and also for everybody.
All professional writers usually write the first drafts until they get their paper done. However, beginner writers have to done the first draft before they start on writing their final paper. First draft often would be as a free writing. Sometimes the writer needs to allow for the words, ideas and thoughts to come flowing out without restriction. Some writers need to have the first draft done to organize the second and last drafts.
When professional writers define the shitty first drafts as child’s draft, the writers start writing and not caring about the about the spelling, punctuation, or grammar. In this case writers usually write as fast as they can. Therefore, they do not stop until finishing the drafts. Essentially, there should be “child’s drafts.”
Writing first drafts help beginner writers to trust the process for their writing which is also the author writes again and again to know exactly what she doing, and to have faith of her work. Lamott has written several drafts to become a professional writer; consequently, she attends a restaurant couple of times with different friends and take notes about what her friends said. Reviewing the work does not mean you are not doing well, it means the process will start again to make it better.
