Electrical Safety Terminology - 2 Page 2

Student’s name: Saud

1) Electrical Hazard:

It’s a Dangerous condition where a worker could make electrical contact with energized equipment or a conductor, and from which the person may sustain an injury from shock.

2) Shock Hazard:

the physiological reaction, characterized by pain and muscular spasm, to the passage of an electric current through the body. It can affect the respiratory system and heart rhythm

3) Touch Potential:

Touch potential is the touch voltage between the energized object and the feet of a person in contact with the object.

4) Accessible, Readily:

Allowing for access without the need to remove obstructions.

5) Ventricular fibrillation:

A heart rhythm problem that occurs when the heart beats with rapid, erratic electrical impulses.

6) Barrier:

A circumstance or obstacle that keeps people or things apart or prevents communication or progress

7) Arc (as related to electricity):

Arc, in electricity, highly luminous and intensely hot discharge of electricity between two electrodes.

8) Ground Fault:

an unintentional electrical path between a power source and a grounded surface.

9) Overcurrent:

An electrical circuit when the current (amperage) in the circuit exceeds the rated amperage capacity of that circuit or of the connected equipment on that circuit.

10) Overload:

To overload is to load an excessive amount in or on something, such as anoverload of electricity which shorts out the circuits.

11) Curable Burn (as related to electrical hazards) :

According th Electrical Hazard accruable curable burn accurse if a person’s skin exposed to an accidental release of energy.

Bonus:

What is a “Multi-Employer Worksite”?

An employer who is engaged in a common undertaking, on the same worksite, as the exposing employer and is responsible for correcting a hazard.

I got 41% in that so correct it according to prof comments and instructions

Professor Feedback:

not the complete answer I was looking for on "shock hazard" & bonus.

not exactly what I was looking for on 12 but will give you credit for it.

did not provide answer for "exposed".

half credit for the 10 correct answers because you did not provide a citation for each answer as instructed in class.
