This was the first time I have ever heard of a webography. I was quite puzzled working on it but I think I figured out what to do and I actually enjoyed working on it. The website I will discuss in this forum is the U.S Department of State: Office of Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism. This websites main goal is to prevent the use of WMD by terrorists. To achieve this objective, the site interlinks with foreign bodies so as to strengthen the ability to detect and prevent any form of acquisition or usage of WMD. Overall, it categorizes WMD into four broad groups: biological, chemical, radiological, and nuclear materials. Among these materials, it gives more emphasis to the mission of fighting the smuggling of nuclear or radiological materials. In particular, it lists six steps that are undertaken by the Office of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDT) to deter smuggling. Even though the site succeeds in outlining the mandate of the U.S. State Department in combating the proliferation of WMD, the site is very shallow in its coverage as it only gives more emphasis to smuggling of nuclear weapons only. Of course there are other dangerous materials such as toxic chemicals that the site should elaborate on. Also, the site lacks a clear interactive capability to empower users to share ideas or launch complaints.
